📅 Wedding Countdown Calculator

Enter your wedding date to see exactly how many days, weeks, and months remain until your big day.

How the countdown is worked out

Both dates are pinned to local midnight before subtracting, so a clock change during the countdown cannot knock the answer a day out:

days = wedding date - today (whole days)
weeks  = days / 7    rounded down
months = days / 30.44 rounded down

That 30.44 is the average length of a month, and the rounding down is why the months line can disagree with a calendar. From 31 January to 31 July is 181 days, which the tool reports as ~5 months even though everyone involved will call it six. Trust the day count; the weeks and months are labelled with a tilde for that reason. The field opens six months ahead by default, the badge turns amber inside 30 days, and a past date flips the page to counting days married.

Plan in weeks, not months

Suppliers work to lead times measured in weeks, and the ones that bite are all near the end:

Days outWhat is usually due
365-540Venue and date held; photographer booked
240Dress ordered - alterations need 8-12 weeks after it lands
180Save the dates posted
42-56Invitations posted
21-28RSVP deadline
7-14Final head count to the caterer
The final-numbers date is the one that costs money. Most caterers bill the count you confirm that day whether or not those guests turn up, so late cancellations after it are paid for in full.

Frequently asked questions

How many weeks are there in six months of planning?

About 26. Six average months is 183 days, so 26 weeks and a day - and only about 22 of those weeks are usable, since the last month is taken up by final numbers, fittings and the seating plan.

When should wedding invitations be posted?

Six to eight weeks before the day, with the RSVP deadline three to four weeks out. Add a month for guests travelling internationally, and send save the dates about six months ahead instead.

Why does it show fewer months than I expected?

Because months are counted as 30.44 days each and rounded down. A gap of 181 days is 5.9 average months, which displays as ~5.
