🎁 Party Favors Cost Calculator
Enter your guest count and cost per favor to estimate total cost, with an optional bulk discount for larger orders.
How the total is worked out
A straight multiplication, with the discount applied only once the order reaches the threshold:
subtotal = guests × cost per favor
discount = guests >= threshold ? subtotal × pct / 100 : 0
total = subtotal - discount
The defaults - 60 guests, $3.50 each, 10% from 50 up - give a $210 subtotal, $21 off and $189 to pay, an effective $3.15 a favour. The comparison is inclusive, so exactly 50 guests qualifies. Leave the threshold blank and no discount is ever applied; a cost of zero is rejected rather than treated as free.
The threshold makes a cliff worth crossing
- 49 favours at $3.50 is $171.50 with no discount. Fifty is $175 less 10%, or $157.50 - one more favour and you pay $14 less.
- Order 5 to 10% spare regardless. Favours get dropped, taken by children and handed to the guest who arrived without an RSVP, and the spares often push you over the threshold anyway.
- The discount is a share of the subtotal, so it grows with the order: the same 10% is worth $21 at 60 guests and $35 at 100.
Frequently asked questions
How much should party favors cost per guest?
$2 to $5 for a birthday or shower, which is where the $3.50 default sits, and $5 to $10 at a wedding. Above that the favour is competing with the catering for the same money.
Do I get the bulk discount at exactly the threshold?
Yes. The test is guests greater than or equal to the threshold, so a 50-guest order at a 50-guest threshold gets the full percentage.
How many extra party favors should I order?
Five to ten per cent over the confirmed headcount. On 60 guests that is three to six spares, roughly $10 to $21 at $3.50 each, and it saves the scramble when the count moves in the last week.
