🏆 Win-Loss Standings Tracker
Add teams or players with their win-loss-tie records to see win percentage and games back from the current leader, calculated the same way sports standings are.
Win percentage and games back
Two figures are worked out for every row, using the same definitions professional leagues publish:
win % = (wins + 0.5 × ties) ÷ (wins + losses + ties)
games back = ((leader wins − wins) + (losses − leader losses)) ÷ 2
A tie is worth exactly half a win, so 10-4-1 scores (10 + 0.5) ÷ 15 = 70.0%. Against a 12-3 leader that record sits ((12 − 10) + (4 − 3)) ÷ 2 = 1.5 games back, and an 8-6 team is 3.5 back on 57.1%. The leader’s own line shows a dash rather than 0.0. Rows re-sort by win percentage as you type, and a team with no games played counts as 0%.
Reading the table honestly
- Games back needs even schedules. The formula assumes both teams have played roughly the same number of games. Where they have not, the half-game it produces is the familiar quirk of a standings page rather than an error.
- There is no minimum. A 1-0 team shows 100% and takes top spot over a 12-3 side on 80%. Early in a season, read the record before the percentage.
- Ties are ignored by the games-back sum. Only wins and losses enter it, which is why a league that draws often should lean on the percentage column instead.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate games back?
Add the win gap to the loss gap and halve it. A team three wins and one loss adrift is (3 + 1) ÷ 2 = 2.0 games back, because each game swings the standings by half a game for each side.
How is a tie counted in the win percentage?
As half a win and half a loss. A 6-6-2 record is (6 + 1) ÷ 14 = 50.0%, identical to 7-7.
What does GB of 0.5 mean?
The team is half a game behind: it has played one game fewer than the leader and would draw level by winning it. Half-game gaps disappear once both teams have played the same number.
