One division, and the input that decides it
cost per page = kit cost / pages covered
$15 over 20 pages is $0.75 a page. The kit price is a fact; the page count is a guess, and it moves the answer more than anything else. If that same kit really dresses 12 pages before the good pieces run out, it costs $1.25 - two thirds more than the number on the packaging suggested.
Getting the page count right
- Count to the piece that runs out first. An alphabet sheet is short of E, A and S long before it runs out of Q and Z, and a kit with one large title die cut covers exactly one hero page. Divide by the limiting item, not by the total sticker count.
- Add postage before dividing. A $25 monthly kit with $6 of shipping is a $31 kit, and at 20 pages that is $1.55 rather than $1.25. Subscription kits are the ones where this bites hardest.
- Watch the rounding on cheap kits. The result is shown to the cent, so $15 across 40 pages reads as $0.38. Multiply back by a full album - 40 pages at $0.375 is $15.00 - before treating two close figures as different.
Frequently asked questions
How many pages does a scrapbook sticker kit cover?
Makers usually quote 8 to 12 layouts for a monthly kit, but that assumes you use the whole thing, alphabets included. Count how many pages you finished from your last kit and use that number instead.
Are monthly scrapbook kits cheaper than buying sheets?
Compare them per page, since sheet counts and piece counts are not comparable. A $28 kit that genuinely covers 12 pages is $2.33 a page, and a $4 sticker sheet that finishes 3 pages is $1.33.
Do stickers damage photographs?
They can. Adhesive that is not tested against photographic emulsions may yellow, stain or lift the surface when removed. Mount stickers on acid-free, lignin-free cardstock and leave the print face clear.
