🎱 Yes or No Decision Maker

Ask your question, click the button, get a random answer. Switch to custom options to pick randomly from your own list instead (great for "where should we eat" type decisions).

The default mode is not a 50/50

Yes / No / Maybe draws evenly from seven set phrases, each with a 1 in 7 chance of 14.3%. Even though every phrase is equally likely, the answers are not, because three of the seven mean yes and only two mean no:

VerdictPhrasesChance
YesYes, Definitely, Absolutely42.9%
NoNo, Unlikely28.6%
No answerMaybe, Ask again later28.6%

So the tool leans yes by about three to two, and one press in three refuses to commit. If you want a genuinely even split, switch to Custom options and type Yes on one line and No on the next - two options, 50% each, no hedging.

Custom options, and what a randomiser is for

The useful part is not the answer, it is your reaction to it. If "No" lands and you immediately want to press again, you already knew what you wanted - which is the whole trick, and it works on the genuinely close calls that are not worth more thinking.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a fair 50/50 yes or no?

Not in the default mode - yes comes up 42.9% of the time against 28.6% for no, with the rest non-committal. For a true coin flip, use Custom options with just Yes and No.

How do I pick randomly between four restaurants?

Choose Custom options and put one name per line. Each gets an equal 25%. Add a second line for a favourite to give it 40% of a five-line list.

Why does it say "Ask again later" instead of answering?

Two of the seven stock phrases are deliberate dodges, borrowed from the Magic 8-Ball, so 28.6% of presses hedge. Press again, or switch to custom options for a straight answer.
