๐๏ธ Lottery Number Generator
Choose a preset for popular lotteries, or set your own custom range and count. Numbers are generated using your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator.
How to set it up
Four boxes, so the generator matches whichever game you play rather than one fixed format: how many main numbers, the highest main number, and the same pair for a bonus ball where the game has one. Main numbers are drawn without repetition, and the bonus is drawn from its own separate range.
| Game | Main | Bonus |
|---|---|---|
| Powerball (US) | 5 from 69 | 1 from 26 |
| Mega Millions (US) | 5 from 70 | 1 from 25 |
| EuroMillions | 5 from 50 | 2 from 12 |
| UK Lotto | 6 from 59 | โ |
Check your own game before playing โ formats change, and operators adjust the ranges more often than people expect.
What random does and does not do
Every combination has exactly the same chance, so a random pick is neither better nor worse than numbers you chose. What it does change is one thing, and it is the only edge available in a lottery.
The same logic rules out patterns that feel random but are not: diagonal lines on the slip, 1-2-3-4-5-6, and last week’s winning numbers are all played by thousands of people every draw.
Two ideas that do not work
Hot and cold numbers
Balls have no memory. A number that has not appeared for forty draws is exactly as likely as any other on the next one. Frequency tables describe the past and predict nothing.
Due numbers
The same mistake wearing different clothes โ the gambler’s fallacy. Independent draws do not correct themselves, and over enough draws every number simply approaches the same rate without anything ever being owed.
The odds, plainly
Powerball is about 1 in 292 million. Buying a hundred tickets moves that to about 1 in 2.9 million, which is still comfortably beyond the point of being worth planning around. No generator, system or strategy changes these numbers, and anything sold on the claim that it does is selling nothing.
Play for entertainment, with money you are content to lose.
Frequently asked questions
Are random numbers better than picking my own?
Not for your chance of winning, which is identical either way. They are better at avoiding the date-based clusters most people pick, so a win is less likely to be shared.
Should I avoid numbers over 31?
The opposite. Because so many people play birthdays, 32 and above are under-played, so including them reduces the number of people you would split a prize with.
Do hot and cold numbers work?
No. Each draw is independent, so a number that has been absent for months is exactly as likely as any other. Frequency history has no predictive value.
Can the same number appear twice?
Not within the main set, which is drawn without repetition like a real draw. A bonus number comes from its own range and can coincide with a main number where the game allows it.
Is this random enough to play with?
Yes, for choosing lottery numbers. It uses the browser’s random number generator, which is fine for picking a ticket. It is not suitable for cryptographic work, but nothing about a lottery slip requires that.
