π Multi-Room Packing Inventory Tracker
Track your packing progress room by room β see how many boxes you've packed against your estimate for each room, and your overall completion percentage.
How progress is counted
Each row holds a room name, an estimate of the boxes it will take, and how many are packed so far. Two percentages come out of that:
room % = min(packed / estimated, 1) × 100
overall % = sum(packed) / sum(estimated) × 100
The two rooms it opens with show the difference. The kitchen at 5 of 15 reads 33%, the living room at 10 of 10 reads 100%, and overall is 15 packed against 25 estimated: 60.0%. Room figures are rounded to a whole percent, the overall line to one decimal.
Working room by room
- Add a row per space you will actually carry boxes out of, including the loft, the garage and the shed. A room left off the list quietly inflates your progress.
- Estimate before you start packing that room, not after. Revising the estimate upward mid-pack is normal and honest; the kitchen is the room that most often needs it.
- Rename the rows. “Kids’ room” and “Office” tell you more on moving day than “Room 3”.
- The Remove button appears only while two or more rooms exist, so the last row cannot be deleted.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a room stop at 100% when I packed more than I estimated?
Room percentages are capped so a bad estimate cannot show as 140% done. The overall line is not capped, so packing more boxes than you planned across the house can push the total above 100%.
What happens if I leave a room’s estimate at zero?
That room reads 0% however many boxes you have packed, because dividing by zero is skipped. Its packed boxes still count toward the overall total, which makes the overall figure look better than the room list does.
What order should I pack the rooms in?
Start with storage areas and out-of-season things, finish with the kitchen and the bathroom. The last two rooms are the ones you still need on the final morning.
