⏲️ Workout Rest Timer
Set your rest interval, start the timer between sets, and it counts down automatically and tells you when it's time for your next set.
What Start actually does
Pressing Start copies the box into a countdown and ticks it down once a second. The reading hits zero, and one tick later the card flips to Go and adds one to the set counter:
countdown = max(5, rest seconds) default 90 if the box is empty
ticks to "Go!" = rest seconds + 1
Reset: stops the clock, zeroes the counter, reloads the box
So a 90-second rest counts 90 down to 0 across 90 ticks and announces Go on the 91st. Ten rests therefore run ten seconds long against a stopwatch.
Behaviour to expect
- Start is ignored mid-rest. Clicking it again does nothing; to cut a rest short or change its length, press Reset first.
- The counter tracks completed rests. It rises only when a countdown finishes, and Reset puts it back to zero.
- Five seconds is the floor. Anything lower - or an empty box - is pulled up to 5 or falls back to 90 rather than erroring.
Frequently asked questions
How long should I rest between sets?
Heavy strength work usually wants two to five minutes; accessory and higher-rep work commonly runs 60 to 90 seconds. Rest long enough to repeat the set at the same quality.
Why does a 90 second rest take 91 seconds?
The display starts at 90 and needs one tick per second to reach 0, then one more to declare the rest over. It is a single second of overhead per set.
Can I change the rest time without losing my set count?
Not mid-rest: Reset reloads the interval but clears the counter too. Let the current rest finish, then edit the box and press Start - the count survives.
