💰 Coin Storage Supply Budget Calculator
Add each storage supply item (tubes, flips, capsules, boxes, albums) with its cost and quantity to see your total planned storage budget.
How the budget adds up
Each row is priced on its own and the rows are summed:
line total = cost each × quantity
budget = line 1 + line 2 + ... + line n
The two rows on load are five coin tubes at $2 and two storage boxes at $15, which come to $10 and $30 for a $40 budget. Add Item drops in a $5 row with a quantity of one for you to overwrite.
The usual mistake is the pack. A 100-count box of cardboard flips advertised at $8 is one line at $8 quantity 1, or $0.08 quantity 100 - entering $8 with a quantity of 100 prices the pack a hundred times over and inflates the total to $800.
What to put on the list
- Tubes are the cheapest per coin and suit bulk and rolls, but they hide the coins and let them rub against each other.
- Cardboard 2x2 flips cost pennies each, take a written attribution, and need stapling flat so no staple point reaches a coin.
- Capsules cost the most per coin and are the choice for anything you would be upset to lose.
- Boxes, binders and pages are the fixed cost on top, and are the items most often left off a budget entirely.
Frequently asked questions
Are PVC flips safe for long-term coin storage?
Soft PVC is not. It softens over years and deposits a sticky green residue that permanently damages the surface. Clear rigid flips labelled Mylar, polyester or PVC-free are safe to leave a coin in indefinitely.
Does the total include shipping and tax?
No. It sums the lines you type and nothing else. Supplies are heavy and shipping is often a real fraction of the order, so add it as its own row rather than discovering it at checkout.
Is my list saved when I come back?
It is not. The rows exist only while the page is open and are not stored or sent anywhere, so note the total down before you close the tab.
