📖 Coin Album Page Capacity Calculator
Enter your total coin count and how many your album holds per page to see how many pages you'll need.
How the page count is worked out
One division, rounded up, because a page that is one third full is still a page you have to buy:
pages = ceiling(total coins / coins per page)
The loaded values, 200 coins at 20 a page, divide exactly into 10. Change the count to 205 and the answer becomes 11, not 10.25 - the eleventh page carries five coins and fifteen empty pockets. That rounding is the whole point of the tool, and it is where mental arithmetic usually goes wrong.
Getting the coins-per-page figure right
Pockets per page are set by the holder you use, not by the coin. The common vinyl and polypropylene formats:
| Page format | Pockets | Holds |
|---|---|---|
| 2x2 | 20 | Standard 2x2 in cardboard flips and Mylar holders |
| 2.5x2.5 | 12 | Larger flips for dollars and crowns |
| Slab | 4 | Certified coins in PCGS or NGC holders |
| Currency | 3 | Banknotes, not coins |
A page format takes one pocket size throughout, so a run of mixed denominations in mixed holders needs a page count per format rather than one figure. Work out each format separately and add the results.
Frequently asked questions
How many coins fit on a coin album page?
Twenty is the usual figure, for a page of 2x2 inch flips laid out four across and five down. Pages for 2.5x2.5 flips hold twelve, and pages built for graded slabs hold four.
Why does it round up to a whole page?
Because pages are bought whole. 205 coins at 20 a page needs 11 pages even though the last one is three quarters empty, and the calculator gives you the number to order rather than the exact quotient.
How many pages will a binder hold?
Most three-ring numismatic binders take somewhere around 20 filled pages before the rings strain, and coin pages are heavy. If the answer here runs past that, budget for a second binder as well as the pages.
