🔤 Scrabble Score Calculator
Enter a word and any word-level multiplier (double word, triple word) to calculate its score using standard Scrabble letter tile values.
Tiles added up, then multiplied
Every letter is looked up in the standard English tile values, summed, and the total multiplied by whichever word square you chose:
base = sum of the tile values
final = base × word multiplier (1, 2 or 3)
QUIZ, the default, is Q=10 + U=1 + I=1 + Z=10 = 22, and landing it on a triple word square makes 66. JAZZY is 8 + 1 + 10 + 10 + 4 = 33, or 66 again on a double word. The breakdown row prices each letter separately.
The tile values, and what the tool leaves out
| Value | Letters |
|---|---|
| 1 | A E I L N O R S T U |
| 2 | D G |
| 3 | B C M P |
| 4 | F H V W Y |
| 5 | K |
| 8 | J X |
| 10 | Q Z |
- Letter squares are not modelled. A double or triple letter applies before the word multiplier, so work that one letter out by hand and add the difference to your base.
- Blanks score zero. Leave the letter the blank stands for out of the box entirely, otherwise you are paid for a tile you did not play.
- Only A-Z is accepted. Spaces, hyphens and digits are rejected.
Frequently asked questions
How many points is a Q worth in Scrabble?
Ten, the joint highest with Z. J and X are 8, K is 5, and the ten commonest letters - A, E, I, L, N, O, R, S, T and U - are worth one each.
What is the highest-scoring word I can make?
Length beats rarity once multipliers are involved. QUIZ is 22 tiles but only four squares long; a seven-tile play earns the 50-point bingo on top, so a plain 24-point word played out in full beats it at 74.
Does the double word score apply to the whole word?
Yes - every tile in the word, including letters that were already on the board, provided the new tile is the one sitting on the premium square. The square is spent after that turn and scores 1x for the rest of the game.
