Fluid ounces measure volume, not weight. A US fluid ounce is 29.57 mL; an imperial fluid ounce is 28.41 mL, which is why a UK pint is 568 mL and a US pint 473 mL. And 8 fl oz of honey weighs far more than 8 oz - for flour, sugar or butter, weigh rather than convert.
