#️⃣ Hashtag Generator

Paste your caption or post text to get a set of hashtags built from its most frequent meaningful words. Review before posting — this is a starting point, not a strategy.

How the tags are chosen

There is no dictionary of trending tags behind this. The generator ranks the words in your own text by frequency, drops the ones carrying no meaning, and capitalises what is left:

words  = text.toLowerCase().match(/[a-z]+/g)
keep = length > 2 and not in the 36-word stop list
rank = by frequency, ties in order of first appearance
tag = '#' + word with its first letter capitalised

Run the sample caption and #Run comes first, as the only word used twice; the rest follow in the order they appear - #Finished, #Mile, #Morning, #Through. Seeing #Through there is the honest measure of the method: the stop list covers common filler words, not every word that makes a poor hashtag.

What to fix before you post

Frequency is not relevance. A word you happened to repeat gets promoted whether or not anyone searches for it, so treat the output as a shortlist to edit rather than a set to paste.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get hashtags from my caption?

Paste the caption into the box and the tags appear underneath, already prefixed and spaced. The copy button puts the whole line on your clipboard so it can go straight into a post or a first comment.

Why did a word from my text not become a hashtag?

Three things remove a word: it is two letters or shorter, it is on the stop list of common words such as the, with and just, or it ranked below your Max hashtags cutoff. Raising the cap brings the rarer words back.

Can it create multi-word hashtags?

No. Each tag is one word from your text with a capital letter on the front, so a phrase like trail run comes out as two separate tags. Join them yourself if you want the camel-case version.
