🕶️ Anonymous Username Generator
Generate a random username that gives away nothing about your real identity — good for forums, throwaway signups or anywhere you want privacy.
How each name is assembled
Every username is one adjective, one noun and an optional number, drawn from two
fixed 20-word lists with crypto.getRandomValues. One adjective,
Quiet, is listed twice, so there are 380 distinct pairs rather than 400.
The suffix is a whole number from 1000 to 10999.
combinations = 380 x 9000 = 3,420,000
bits = log2(3,420,000) = 21.7
Turn the suffix off and the pool collapses to 380 names, or log2(380) = 8.6 bits. Fine for a forum handle, hopeless for anything you log in with.
What the settings do
- How Many takes 1 to 20. Duplicates are filtered, but the retry loop gives up after 20 tries per name, so with the suffix off you can get back slightly fewer than you asked for.
- The number suffix is what stops two people landing on SilentFalcon on the same site. Leave it on unless digits are rejected.
- Reusing one random name across several sites links those accounts together just as effectively as using your real one.
Frequently asked questions
Can two people end up with the same anonymous username?
Yes. With the suffix on there are 3.42 million possibilities, so a collision is unlikely; with it off there are only 380, and pairs like SilentCipher are already taken on big sites.
Can I use a generated username as a password?
No. AmberBeacon4821 carries about 21.7 bits of entropy, which a commodity cracking rig gets through in under a second. Use the password or passphrase generator instead.
Does a random username actually make me anonymous?
It removes one link, not all of them. Your email address, IP, writing style and posting times still identify you, and the site sees your signup details.
