🗂️ Vocabulary Flashcard Generator
Enter word and translation pairs (one per line, separated by a comma) to generate interactive flip flashcards for practicing vocabulary.
How your lines become cards
One line is one card, split at the first comma:
buenos dias, good morning → front "buenos dias" back "good morning"
tirar, to throw, to pull → front "tirar" back "to throw, to pull"
adios → dropped (no comma, so no back)
Everything after that first comma is rejoined, which is what lets a card carry two or three senses on the back. Blank lines are ignored, and any line missing a front or a back is dropped without a warning, so if you enter twelve lines and the header says 10 cards, two of them had no comma. Click the card to flip it; Next and Previous wrap around, and moving to another card always turns it back to the word side.
Getting something out of a deck this simple
- There is no scheduler here. Every card comes round as often as every other one. A spaced-repetition app would drop a card you know to a 6-day gap and then multiply from there; this deck keeps showing it.
- Recall in the harder direction. Reading "gracias" and recognising "thank you" is easy; producing "gracias" from "thank you" is the skill you need when speaking. Put the English first for that.
- Keep a session short. Twenty to thirty new pairs at a sitting is plenty; a 200-line paste turns into a list you skim rather than recall.
Frequently asked questions
What if the translation itself contains a comma?
It works. Only the first comma splits the line, so "tirar, to throw, to pull" gives a front of tirar and a back of to throw, to pull.
Why did some of my lines not become cards?
A line needs a comma with text on both sides. Lines with no comma, or with nothing after it, are silently skipped. Check the card count against the number of lines you pasted.
Are my flashcards saved for next time?
No. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is kept – reload the page and the deck is gone. That means your word list stays private, but you need to keep the source text somewhere yourself.
