🖼️ Image Border & Frame Generator
Upload an image, choose a border color, thickness and corner rounding, and download the result.
How the frame is built
The whole job runs on a canvas in this page - your photo is never uploaded. A canvas is made larger than the original by the border on all four sides, filled with your color, and the image dropped into the middle:
output width = image width + 2 × border
output height = image height + 2 × border
A 1600×1200 photo with a 20 px border comes out at 1640×1240. The picture is drawn at natural size with no scaling, so not one pixel is resampled or softened.
Choosing the settings
- Border width is in real pixels, not a percentage. Twenty pixels around a 4000 px photo is a hairline; the same twenty around a 400 px thumbnail is a heavy mount.
- The corner radius rounds the frame, not the photo. Rounding is clipped from the outer rectangle, so the picture keeps square corners and the trimmed area stays transparent in the PNG.
- Width and radius both cap at 200 px, and the radius is also limited to half the shorter side so corners cannot overlap.
Frequently asked questions
How do I put a white border around a photo?
Leave the color on its default #FFFFFF, set a width and download. The border is equal on all four sides, so a landscape photo stays landscape - this does not pad a picture out to a square.
Why is my JPEG now a much bigger file?
Canvas exports here are PNG, which stores every pixel exactly rather than compressing as JPEG does; a photo can easily triple in size. Run the result through the Image Compressor if file size matters.
Can I round the corners of the image itself?
Set the border to zero and the radius clips the photo directly. With a border in place, the rounding applies to the mount and the inner picture stays square.
