Holiday Card List Tracker
Track your holiday card list — add names and mark each as sent and/or received to see your progress.
What the totals count
Each row is one household and carries two independent checkboxes. The summary under the list is three tallies:
total on list = number of rows
cards sent = rows with Sent ticked
cards received = rows with Received ticked
Sent and Received never affect each other, so a row can be one, both or neither. The headline figure is the sent count over the list length - tick 12 of 38 rows and it reads 12/38 sent. Rows left unnamed appear as Person 4, Person 5 and so on, and they still count towards the totals.
Using the two columns
- Sent is the working column in December. Add every name first, then tick as each envelope goes in the postbox rather than as you write it - the gap between the two is where cards get lost.
- Received is next year's list. Names that arrived but were never on your list are the ones to add; names you sent to for three years running with nothing back are the ones to cut.
- The list length is also your budget: 40 names at $1.50 a card plus current postage of roughly $0.75 is about $90 before you have written a word.
Frequently asked questions
Does the tracker save my card list?
No. There is no account and no stored copy; refreshing the page empties every row. Treat it as a working checklist for one sitting and keep the permanent list wherever your addresses already live.
Should I send a card to someone who did not send me one?
The Received column answers it over time rather than in one year. One blank year means nothing - people move, and cards cross in the post. Three blank years on the same name is a reasonable point to drop it.
How much does a 40-card holiday list cost to send?
Around $90 at $1.50 a card and about $0.75 postage each, so roughly $2.25 a head. Boxed cards cut the card half sharply; postage is fixed, so cutting the list is the only lever on that part.
