Where the numbers stop agreeing
- These are US fluid ounces. An imperial fluid ounce is 28.4131 ml, so a British recipe's ounce is about 4% smaller. Across a 750 ml batch that is a shot's worth of difference.
- A tablespoon is 2 per ounce here, which holds for the US 14.79 ml spoon. Metric spoons are 15 ml and Australian ones 20 ml, so an Australian tablespoon is closer to a third more than the tool assumes.
- Bars outside the US pour in metric. A UK single is 25 ml, an Australian nip 30 ml, and Japanese jiggers come marked 30 and 45 ml.
